Bernard Friel, Presenter

This presentation features many unique and beautiful photographs and video from his adventure travel, much of it in wilderness areas from mountaineering, backpacking, sailing, river rafting, canoeing and kayaking adventures in Canada, Alaska, Mexico and Africa, and the back country in many of our national parks, monuments and refuges.
Bernie has organized and led more than 45 such trips and participated in 20 more with destinations as remote as Papua, New Guinea and Kakadu National Park in Australia, as exciting as climbing Pico de Orizaba in Mexico and Kilimanjaro in Africa, sailing through a typhoon in the South Pacific, and rowing a raft down the Grand Canyon, and as nearby as canoeing the Quetico Wilderness Area adjacent to Minnesota’s Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness. Bernie’s extensive travel and exploration led to his recent membership in the internationally prestigious Explorers Club.
Bernie grew up in St. Paul, attended Central High School and graduated from the University of Minnesota Law School, served in the USAF, joined one of the Briggs and Morgan predecessor firms in 1956 and has lived in Mendota Heights since 1957.

“How can a nice person survive swimming
with the occasional shark?”
Thriving inside the politics of any organization.
Building a culture that is politically constructive.
presented by:
Jim Earley, Master Certified Coach
Trailblazer Coaching
Any time you have two or more people working together you have relationships in play. Relationships exist hand-in-hand with “politics” although many don’t appreciate that. This session is designed to help hard working, responsible, nice people better swim in competitive office waters.
After this session, participants will:
- be able to recognize people who shouldn’t be trusted and understand why they shouldn’t be trusted.
- will understand what they need to do to more safely work with those untrustworthy people they must work with.
- will understand their responsibilities in succeeding within an organization without having to despair over politics nor be the sacrificial lamb to politics.
Jim Earley is one of the pioneers in the personal/business coaching field having started his practice in 1991. He was among the first to be recognized as a Master Certified Coach by the International Coach Federation (ICF) when that credential was created, was a founding member of the Minnesota Coaches Association, served as its president, and was the organization’s 2009 recipient of the Gaston Award for Lifetime Service.

Our presenters, Steven Lundberg and Tyler Nasiedlak are Shareholders at the law firm of Schwegman, Lundberg & Woessner, PA in Minneapolis. Presented by
Patrick Grinde and Dennis Campbell

Business loans are difficult to get. Why?
What’s affecting this critical loan need?
Will it change soon for the better? It is easier to qualify now for new or increased bank credit rather than later.
What can I do to enhance my chance of getting a business loan? There are several non-financial changes that can be made now to prepare for higher business rates, greater inflation, and another potential slowdown in the economy.
These and many more questions will be answered as the Strategic Business Group (SBG) discusses how to get a loan for your business. Click here to register for this event.

“Back to the Basics – With a Twist”
Presented by
Galon Miller, ALLYNE Group
Gone are the days of “if you build it, they will come.” So, how does a company remain viable when the demand for their current products and services no longer supports the organization? How do you decide where you will allocate scarce resources in your organization?
The first reaction is to cut expenses, continue operations and try and hang on until things get better. While sometimes that may be part of the answer, more often than not, it’s simply not enough.
This presentation will focus on Performance Management best practices and how a Performance Management System drives profits, revenue, employee engagement and the overall health of the organization.
Come to this seminar to learn how you can determine where your organization needs to focus its resources.
